The GigaScanner is provided solely as an informational tool, and nothing here should ever be taken as a buy or sell recommendation for any security. Past performance is no guarantee of future results. Stock trading is extremely risky, and you could easily lose some or all of your money.
The Gigascanner
The Gigascanner is a free, online, intraday, chart-based stock market screener. There are dozens of preset stock screens for leading stocks, stock gapping up, stocks up or down on big volume, CANSLIM stocks, leading stocks, stock picks, penny stocks, hot stocks and many more, with pop-up annotated stock charts.
Or, you can use the control panel to set up custom stock screens.
The Gigascanner features a special set of powerful, proprietary buy and sell signals which routinely catch tops and bottoms on the exact day (which sounds unbelievable, but we have the charts to prove it). The signals were originally designed for individual stocks, but work at least as well on the broad indexes. Check out the chart below, with the buy signal in the Dow at the exact low in March, 2009. Don't miss that little red sell signal either, over by the left edge. You can't afford not to follow these signals!

Background
The GigaScanner was originally conceived as the "world's most powerful and convenient web-based stock market scanning tool". (This was before we realized that "stock screener" is a much more popular keyword search on Google than is "stock scanner". So now it's a stock screener, also referred to as a stock scanner.)
It combines high-quality, professional stock charting with the unique ability to "scan" (screen) the market for just about any significant technical situation. Actually, we decided to limit it to a set of "significant" technical signals and indicators that we've developed and tested over many years of research, that we actually use in our own trading. That's how it began, originating back in the early 2000s basically as a hobby project run amok, evolving over time into what it is now - a highly professional stock-screener with an unprecidented deluxe chart-based interface and uncannily accurate technical signals.
You can screen thousands of stocks for any symbols meeting your criteria almost instantly, at the touch of a button, then flip rapid-fire through a sorted list of beautiful, annotated stock charts. Or, you can view the results in table form. A typical stock screen might be "New All-Time Highs, with Relative Strength Rank >= 60, EPS Rank >= 40, and Average Volume >= 100k, sorted by Volume Surge". This will bring up a select list of symbols which can be saved as a watchlist (or a Symbol List, as we call it).
There's a "signal" that can be applied to the charts for each of the primary scan conditions. It's a colored "paintbar" overlaying the daily price bar (or candlestick) to highlight a selected event, such as a Climax High.
For each signal there's also a corresponding specialized Market Breadth indicators. For example, you can plot the daily number of Climax Low signals versus the number Up On Big Volume, or the number Up On Big Volume versus the All Time Highs. These indicators reveal the cross-section of the market like nothing else.
The charts are CANSLIM-friendly. There are rankings for EPS Growth and Relative Strength which can be displayed as indicators, and also a proprietary Percentage Accumulation/Distribution indicator.
The GigaScanner is the perfect tool for keeping track of stocks and the overall market. There are 10 different workspaces available, and each one can be set up with its own indicators, flags, scan conditions, colors, etc. There are also 10 available Symbol Lists which are shared between the workspaces. Naturally, all the settings for each workspace are remembered between sessions.
The GigaScanner is also a great market-research research tool. For example, you can easily go back in time and run a scan, then cycle through the charts, stepping each one forward in time to see what happened. Many variations are possible. You can go back in time and run a scan, or several scans, and save your best candidates in a Symbol List. Return to the present and see at a glance how things came out.
You can study the market breadth indicators in the same way. Identify a peak or a "hook" in a breadth indicator, for example a spike in the number of Climax Lows, travel back to that point in time, run a scan for stocks meeting your favorite criteria, and see how they react over the next several months. The possibilities are endless.
By the way, appearances are all-important in conveying visual information, so there's a Color Selector Panel to give you near-infinite control over the colors of all the indicators and flags, and of the chart itself. Create your own eye candy! Download speed is important too, so the charts are very lightweight. A typical chart is a mere 10 - 20k bytes in size. The entire web site has been carefully engineered for maximum responsiveness.
Under the hood is a powerful data-crunching engine to analyze incoming market data with very low latency. Signals and Indicators are updated for scanning within just a few seconds after a new data file arrives. The raw data is supplied by Equity Market Data (an independent company) by special arrangement. Equity Market Data provides a data-mining service, obtaining and cross checking stock quotes from a variety of sources. The GigaScanner further checks the data for errors, correcting where possible, and also takes care of splits where available. Briter uploads 30-minute delayed data each half hour, so the overall delay is between 30 and 60 minutes. Approximately 3000 stocks are up-to-date at any given time, roughly representing the Russell-3000 index, with historical data for hundreds more in the database.
Try it out for yourself. You'll be scanning stocks with the pros in no time!
